Types and Benefits of ISHN Membership

Membership in the International School Health Network is on an annual basis, dating from the sign up date. Members will receive a renewal notice prior to the expiry date of their membership.

Membership payment must be made through PayPal, a secure financial transaction web service, for individual membership and organizational memberships. Arrangements will be made for payment of national and state/provincial memberships (normally by invoice and cheque).  

For 2012, the year when membership is required in order to access ISHN services, all members who signed up prior to the January 1st start date, will benefit from an extended annual membership period and their renewal date will be January 1, 2013 regardless of when they signed up in 2011.    

There are three types of ISHN membership and each of them brings different types of benefits. 

Individual Members ($60.00 CAD per annum, plus applicable taxes and Pay Pal processing fee.)

Individual members will receive the following benefits of membership:
  • access to the private web site www.schoolhealthinsider.org, which posts the weekly and monthly items posted from our monitoring of over 150 journals, over 75 media outlets and over 75 social media outlets published by various professional organizations
  • the choice to receive automatic email alerts when the weekly report of news, research and reports is changed (this is dome through the SH Insider web site) 
  • an emailed copy of the monthly newsletter listing the previous month's research, reports and resources as well as highlights and observations made by a team of ISHN writers and partner organizations
  • access to the "hot topic" lists maintained by ISHN on various topics as well as access to the ongoing and extensive collections of educational resources, planning, training and assessment tools, lists of recorded webinars and presentations and the results of our regular searches of social/professional media web sites that share documents, presentations, bookmarks and videos These include web sites such as SlideShare, Scribd, DocStoc, Delicious and others
  • access to a Twitter account that "follows" over 50 selected accounts that regularly publish tweets relating to school-based health, safety, equity, social and sustainable development. By following that list, you follow them and we keep that list of selected organizations up to date for you. (Note: this Twitter account is currently public but we will be making it private as of December 31, 2011   
  • reduced fees to conferences and workshops organized by ISHN and its partners
  • access to webinars and web meetings (including digital recordings) organized or delivered by ISHN and/or its partners
  • direct access to the general SHInsider Twitter account maintained by ISHN which contains all items posted to the private web site as well as to other ISHN outlets. This Twitter account is updated almost every day with selected news, research, reports and other resources. (A personal Twitter account is needed by the individual member to receive this information directly)

Terms and Conditions for Individual ISHN Members

The information provided to individual members is for their personal, professional use and cannot be shared with fellow employees or colleagues from other organizations except on a rare and infrequent basis and only for individual items from the various web-based sources noted above.

Organizational Members ($250 CAD per annum, plus applicable taxes and PayPal processing fees)
  • An organizational membership provides individual access to ISHN services described above for individual members for  up 15 employees of the same organization. 
  • As well, the contact person for the organizational member will be able to distribute or highlight information received from ISHN to all employees of that organization. 

 Terms and Conditions for Organizational Members

The information provided by ISHN to organizational members is for the personal and professional use of their employees only and cannot be shared with other organizations or displayed on the public pages of their web sites except on a rare and infrequent basis and only for individual items from the various web-based sources noted above.

Country or State Members (from $2,500 to $25,000 CAD per annum depending on size, population and ability to pay) 
  • A country or state/provincial membership provides individual access to ISHN services described above for all (unlimited number) professionals and organizations residing or working in that jurisdiction (as determined by their web access point of origin). 
  • As well, the contact person for that country or state member will be able to distribute or highlight information received from ISHN to all professionals and organizations in that jurisdiction in private email lists or in private web access points restricted to resident professionals.

The information provided by ISHN to country/state members is for the personal and professional use of their professionals and organizations in their respective jurisdictions employees only and cannot be shared with others or displayed on the public pages of their web sites except on a rare and infrequent basis and only for individual items from the various web-based sources noted above.

  • See a screen shot of the many features of our flagship, private web site The School Health Insider (which is currently public for review prior to being made private for ISHN members as of January 1st, 2012.  Go to the web site for a free look at all of the features. 
  • See the almost daily postings or research, news and resources made to the SHInsider Twitter account. (You don't need a Twitter account to follow the tweets because we send them out via email on a weekly and monthly basis) Over 150 organizations and people are following our professional news and information service right now. Join them!
  • Sign up in the fall of 2011 and get reduced registration fees at the international school hea;lth conference in Montreal as well as an extended time for your first membership which will start as of January 2012.
